Hotels and Lodges

When visiting Tanzania’s national parks, visitors have the option of staying at one of the upscale lodges located near or in the national parks. Rooms with views, delicious gourmet meals and nightly entertainment are all standard at the safari lodges. Equatorial Safaris can book you at the safari lodge of your choice during your visit, including these listed below.

Ngorongoro National Park

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge is the only tourist development on the previously undisturbed eastern side of the crater and is located on the eastern access road to the crater. The descent to the crater floor commences within five minutes of leaving the lodge.

Game drives are a highlight at Serengeti Sopa Lodge! Enjoy sundowner cocktails by the pool… In the evening, traditional dancers perform for the enjoyment of the guests. Daily slide presentations are also held daily by the resident naturalist.

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge: Perched on the edge of the ancient crater rim, the architectural masterpiece of the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is a magnificent return to the noble elegance of the traveling colonials. Inspired in design by the Masai manta, three separate camps remember a bygone era when characters such as Lord Delamere adorned the stilted, handcrafted structures with graceful antiques, grand chandeliers and treasures collected from travels through Africa.

Tarangire Sopa Lodge Completing the Northern Tanzania safari circuit the lodge, built as a ‘low profile’ structure, nestles into a wooded hillside valley overlooking Tarangire Hill. Situated 120km (75 miles) from Arusha, Tarangire National Park is easily accessible and boasts magnificent herds of elephant and other species of wildlife

Tarangire Wildlife Lodge: This lodge is the only one located within Tarangire National Park. It was built by the children of David Simonson, a beloved Lutheran Missionary who served in Tanzania for over 50 years before dying at his home there in 2010. The land was given to him as a gift from the Massai tribe for his years of service with their community. This lodge is a popular mid-range option with breathtaking views from the lodge and the small decked-out huts where the guests stay. It is still run by the Simonson family. Masai Mara Sopa Lodge Set in the Oloolaimutia valley the lodge blends in perfectly with its surrounding hillside landscape. The accent here is on the Masai people and the fabulous wealth of wildlife, birdlife, and natural flora to be found in the fabled Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Mnemba Island Lodge: Mnemba Island is a small, private island close to the island of Zanzibar. On this island is this exclusive luxury resort. It is a completely private paradise such as you would find only in legends and storybooks, a tiny secret world of linen-white sands, giant turtles, dolphins, shells and magenta sunsets.
